HAIRCUTS MAKE HAPPY CHICKENS

After sending Oscar off to get a haircut today, I turned my attention to the greens garden and gave it a haircut too. The chickens of course approved! This is the second haircut of the week for this bed. The other bed was trimmed… Continue Reading “HAIRCUTS MAKE HAPPY CHICKENS”

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A WEEK MAKES

How exciting Spring is! The greens I planted started poking through within 4 days. Now, they are well-established, and I will have to do some thinning soon. Not only that but the apple trees, elderberry bushes, and fig all have leaves on them. I… Continue Reading “WHAT A DIFFERENCE A WEEK MAKES”

The Sticks Aren’t Dead!

A mystery was solved this weekend. Since we planted our apple trees in November, they have looked like dead sticks. I have been watching them for weeks for signs of life. No more! Hooray! They’re alive!

Into December

Like many, we did not go anywhere for Thanksgiving. Nevertheless, we enjoyed good food and used that time to count our blessings and note the things for which we are grateful. We also will not gather for Christmas. Just because we can’t do what… Continue Reading “Into December”

Trees as a Test of Faith

One of the things I’ve tried to get on my property since moving here is apple trees. This year, that project came back to the forefront when I found fastgrowingtrees.com. The trees from this grower have advanced root systems so that you get apples… Continue Reading “Trees as a Test of Faith”
